MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR TORTURING GIRLFRIENDS 5-YEAR-OLD MALE RELATIVE INCLUDING BEATING, STABBING, AND BURNING HIM WITH CIGARETTES

SANTA ANA A man will be arraigned today for violently torturing his girlfriends 5-year-old male relative by beating, burning, and stabbing him. His girlfriend is also charged in this case for allowing the torture and concealing the crime. Carmen William Iacullo II, 33, Placentia, is charged with one felony count of torture, one felony count of child abuse, and one felony count of corporal injury on a child with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury. He also faces sentencing enhancements for a prior strike conviction for felony battery in 2006 and prison priors for child abuse in 2002 and possession of methamphetamine for sale in 2003. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison. Iacullo is being held on $1 million bail with a separate no bail felony parole hold.
Lori Louisa Pincus, 39, Placentia, is charged with one felony count of child abuse and one felony count of accessory after the fact. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison. Pincus is being held on $100,000 bail. Both defendants are scheduled to be arraigned today, Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
Approximately three months prior to June 2011, Iacullo is accused of moving into Pincus Placentia home. Between June 1, 2011, and June 8, 2011, Iacullo is accused of violently torturing 5-year-old John Doe. He is accused of beating the victim with his fists and a wooden kitchen utensil, burning the victim with cigarettes and a lighter, and stabbing the victim with scissors or pliers. He is accused picking the victim up by his genitals and dropping him to the ground, causing extensive bruising. Iacullo is accused of causing the victim to suffer severe injuries including a black eye, bruising on his entire body, multiple cigarette burns to his chest and a lighter burn to his anus, and stab and cut wounds to his leg and toes.
Pincus is accused of knowing that Iacullo was torturing John Doe and allowing the torture to continue. She is accused of failing to call the police to report the violent abuse, failing to seek any medical attention for the boys injuries, and intentionally not sending John Doe to school after the torture so that school personnel would not become suspicious of his injuries.
On June 8, 2011, the Placentia Police Department (PPD) arrested Iacullo for a parole violation for drug paraphernalia and was transported to the Santa Ana Police Department jail. Pincus is accused of ordering John Doe to hide under the bed when officers arrived to prevent them from seeing the victims injuries.
On the afternoon of June 9, 2011, Pincus is accused of leaving John Doe alone in the home for an extended period of time and going to visit Iacullo in jail. The victim had still not received any treatment for his numerous injuries. After being left alone, John Doe wandered out of his house onto a main road toward a gas station. A friend of Pincus was driving by, observed the child walking alone, and stopped to help. Upon seeing John Does black eye, the friend called PPD, who investigated this case.
John Doe was taken into protective custody. Pincus was arrested June 9, 2011, and Iacullo was already in custody on the parole violation. Charges were filed by the Orange County District Attorneys Office June 13, 2011.
