This was a multiple agency and jurisdiction investigation involving federal, state and local agencies.  This investigation target ed members of a motorcycle gang.  There were approximately eighteen arrests as a result of this undercover investigation.  Approximately fifteen of these cases were prosecuted in federal court for federal firearms violations, because it was decided by the agencies that the defendants faced a longer prison exposure in the federal system.  Three of the eighteen cases were prosecuted by the District Attorney's Narcotics Unit.  All of the cases prosecuted in Orange County were violations for selling assault weapons.  A defendant, age 62, who was president of the motorcycle gang in San Bernardino, was convicted of selling an unregistered assault weapon and received 18 years in state prison after the judge struck all but one of his strike priors.
