"Staying Fit, Learning, and Having Fun"

 

From April 9-11, 2007, the OCDA Government and Community Relations Team, in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club, hosted a Spring Youth Sports Camp at Pio Pico Elementary School. The Sports Camp promotes a healthy lifestyle through athletic activities and encourages learning through live workshops about the criminal justice system. Following soccer practice in the morning, the students participate in afternoon discussions that focus on gangs, delinquency, alcohol and drugs, and crime prevention. Athletic activities are lead by experienced volunteer coaches while the workshops are conducted by professionals in the criminal justice field including OC District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. The Orange County Youth Sports Foundation also sponsors this event.
