An innocent victim drove through a notorious
Santa Ana gangs territory on his way home for lunch. A female gang member sitting in the drivers seat of a parked van stared at him as he drove by. The female then drove the van in pursuit of the victim and his vehicle and a chase ensued. During the chase, a male gang member leaned out of the vans front passenger window and fired several gunshots at the victims vehicle. Witnesses to the incident were able to identify the female gang member but not the male. The female gang member refused a lesser sentence that was offered to her in exchange for naming and cooperating in the prosecution of the male shooter. She refused because her father told her he would rather have a daughter in prison for life than a daughter who was a rat. Eventually, the female pleaded guilty to attempted murder and being an active member of a criminal street gang and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
