Defendant Markell was convicted of molesting a 6-year-old little girl while on probation for another sex offense. The original probation offer had been objected to by the District Attorney but imposed by the court over the DA's objection. The defendant reoffended within less than a year of being released from custody. Due to the prior conviction, the defendant was sentenced to 55 years to life.
