At the detention hearing, the court will determine whether to release the minor or keep him or her detained in juvenile hall based on the seriousness of the offense, alleged injury to the victim, safety to the public, and the minors likelihood of fleeing the courts jurisdiction. Minors are entitled to an attorney at all stages of the court process. Unlike the adult system, minors are not released on bail. The court can order as a condition of release that the minor not contact the victim.
